The Somali-born K'naan Bucks Hip Hop's Violent Code

Born Keinan Warsame, K'naan uses his own poetic nature to tell the story of his life. Warsame states that the violence he witnessed, and sometimes was a part of, was too strong to restate in his lyrics. Instead of creating songs that glorify his struggle in the violent city of Somali, K'naan chooses a different route to reveal the hardships he faced growing up.
